Meet Our Teachers

Lucy Cadney 


In 2013 Lucy graduated with a first class honours degree in Drama and Theatre Arts from The University of Birmingham, and is currently completing her MA in Drama and Theatre Education at The University of Warwick.
Lucy works as a drama practitioner across Derbyshire and beyond, teaching in variety of settings, including: coaching students privately in speech and drama; preparing individuals for LAMDA examinations and arts festivals; facilitating drama groups, clubs and workshops in schools and theatre schools etc. Aside from teaching and directing, Lucy still has a passion for performing. A keen singer, as well as actor, Lucy has sung in choirs and appeared in many musicals and plays in both Birmingham and Derby, with companies including GMTG, The Cast and Kaleidoscope Players.

Bethany Bennett

Drama and Speech 

BA (Hons) Theatre Acting; PGCE

Beth has been a teacher of drama in state and independent schools since 2006, during which time she has directed numerous shows from musicals to Shakespeare and everything in between.  She has also been the Musical Director for an award winning pop and gospel choir. In addition to her role as Drama Teacher and Director with CSTA, Beth is now a freelance private tutor specialising in elocution, LAMDA coaching and English grade improvement. Outside work, Beth has sung and played guitar for many years.

Bethan Davies-Taylor


B.Mus Music, PGCE

Bethan (Beth) works as a primary school teacher by day but is also an accomplished violinist, pianist, singer and LAMDA Musical Theatre teacher too. She has been teaching singing for CSTA since 2010. She has played in the orchestra for many of CSTA’s musical productions and for local amateur theatre companies too including Erewash Musical Society and Kaleidoscope Players. Beth is also an excellent voice coach and thoroughly enjoys working with students achieving fantastic harmonies, enabling them to develop their musical ears and self-confidence in singing.

Josephine Walker


L.IDTA .(Bt, F, Mj). BA (Hons) Performing Arts 

Josephine has been teaching dance to children and young people since 1999 and enjoys nurturing talent and improving the confidence and skills of students. In addition to teaching dance at CSTA since 2008 and choreographing many shows for us, she also her own highly successful dance school entering students of all ages into exams using the IDTA syllabus. Jo is also no stranger to the stage, having appeared with Kaleidoscope Players for many years and Streetlight Theatre arts for two productions playing a variety of roles.
